Acne is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the hair follicles and sebaceous glands. Acne is characterized by black heads, pimple outbreaks, cysts, infected abscesses, and possibly scarring.
Acne Vulgaris is the most common form of acne which includes several types of skin lesions:
- blackheads
- whiteheads
- papules
- pustules
- nodules
- cysts
Acne Conglobata is the most severe form of acne vulgaris and is more common in males and is characterized by
- numerous large skin lesions along with widespread blackheads
- possible severe, irrevocable damage to the skin and disfiguring scarring
