Dr. Z's Letter to his patients and on-line clients Dear patient Dear on-line client All too often it's the practitioner who gets all the information about the patient, and the patient gets little information about the practitioner and his practice. I would like to change that. My full name is Peter Michael Zeischegg. I was born in 1945 in Germany. I have a MS degree in Civil Engineering from the Technical University of Berlin, Germany. In 1970 I came to the United States for postgraduate studies. Wonderfully, this engineering way of viewing life later came in handy in my present vocation - chiropractic! After one year, I decided to quit the engineering field because I found a calling to more directly contribute to people, which has always been my true passion. After many serendipitous events, I attended Life Chiropractic College-West, located in California, and graduated in 1986. My beautiful wife Victoria works with me in the office. We have 6 heart tugging kids - Delia, David, Aaron, Andreas, Anya, and Chris. Our wonderful golden retriever "Busta" is on our patient welcoming committee. So is our cat "Tiger". I love to garden as I feel so connected to the earth there. Roses are my all time favorites, especially one called "Mr. Lincoln" which I often bring into the office In 1978 I had a thriving landscape business in Berkeley, California, and it was there I was notably inspired to be a healing practitioner because I was unable to walk or stand upright, because of unrelenting and excruciating pain. A local chiropractor, Dr. Mik Hamilton, changed my life for good. Within two weeks I was able to again perform heavy physical work. I loved the way he looked at health. I loved the way he practiced. One day, he challenged me to become a chiropractor myself so I could show others that all true healing comes not from drugs and surgery, but from within. I accepted his challenge. But my life lessons were not over. In 1990, my own physical and emotional health was again declining; no solutions seemed to be available. I was chronically depressed and suffered from unpredictable mood swings. My former wife divorced me, and left with our two beautiful boys. Often suicidal, I was left without hope. On top of this, my mother in Germany was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I flew to visit her in the typical allopathic hospital setting. Unfortunately, Western Medicine was totally helpless in the face of her life threatening condition. Her only treatment was useless pain medication. She was given all the wrong foods: milk, bread, butter, which she could not keep down. I was horrified at this situation, and returned to the United States saddened and again fully and unequivocally determined to seek an alternative to the failings of traditional medicine. I spent all the time, when I was not practicing, researching alternative health care with people from all over the world. The pinnacle of my search was ironically a trip to my homeland Germany with the Occidental Research Institute. What a surprise: I was introduced to an entirely different health paradigm:
I returned from this journey, with rekindled hope. With powerful new tools and vastly different thinking, I was able to lift myself slowly and steadily from the depth of despair. My greatest sense of true satisfaction now comes from helping my fellow human beings regain vitality and life force, when nothing else in conventional or alternative health care seems to be able to help.
The body heals itself. All "therapies" are only successful if they "remove the blocks" to allow the body's own healing wisdom to express itself. I believe so deeply in how I practice and always strive to improve. I know I give an excellent service for a fair fee. It is my calling to help people. I ask you to refer and continue to refer patients to me because I have assembled a powerful system of care which addresses not the symptoms, but rather their underlying cause(s). I established this clinic in Nevada County because I love the beautiful nurturing foothills and the incomparable people who live here. The whole purpose of this clinic is to provide a sanctuary where I help those who come to explore the neurological, structural, nutritional and emotional aspects of healing without the use of drugs or surgery. This practice is unique in that it shows you a way back to your true and healthy self and teaches you simple but powerful health strategies. My personal heartfelt promise to you: Because I have known both devastating pain and deep despair in my life - and their resolution - you can count on me that I will be your compassionate, and also unwavering, guide towards a more vibrant life. Peter Zeischegg, MS, DC, DACNB A few aspects of Dr. Z's studies:
With increasing success, he started using these alternative techniques in his practice. Dr. Z continues to study with experts from all over the world. Up to his retirement in 2010, Dr. Z offered clinical studies with Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT). Research from around the world indicates that LLLT is highly effective, and at times the only hope, in the alleviation or resolution of many conditions such as chronic pain, sports injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis, migraines, inflammatory skin conditions, non-healing (diabetic) ulcers, hearing loss, tinnitus, vertigo and more. Dr. Z and his lovely wife/assistant Victoria recently completed a postgraduate certification program: Diagnosis and Treatment of ADHD, Learning Disabilities and Behavioral Disorders This is Graduate School Certificate program offered by the Carrick Institute for Graduate Studies. Dr. Z currently offers the treatment of ADHD, ADD, LD, TDD, Autism, Tourette's Syndrome and OCD without the use of medications/drugs. There is clear and growing evidence that ADHD, ADD, LD, TDD, Autism, Tourette's Syndrome and OCD are not separate clinical conditions. All of these are similar in their underlying neurological mechanism, involving the prefrontal cortex, the basal ganglia, cerebellum and the thalamus. There is no demonstrable ablative pathology in these children. However, the sensorimotor loop involving the prefrontal cortex, basal ganglia, cerebellum and thalamus demonstrates both decreased activity and reduced anatomical size, particularly in the right brain and the left cerebellum, especially in boys. BHSC (Brain Hemisphere Specific Chiropractic) and other hemisphere specific stimulation with sound, light, smell, etc., are used to increase the function of the "deficient" hemisphere. Both Dr. Z and his wife/assistant Victoria have completed the self training required to become trainers in The Interactive Metronome. The Interactive Metronome has proven invaluable to restore the synchronization of left and right hemispheres and to assist kids and adults with sequencing and brain processing problems. |
