I get letters (bolds and links added by Dr. Z) had everything wrong with me that was on Dr.Z's list of Self Evaluation symptoms. I had no energy, aches and pains all over my body. I had difficulty with motivation, depression, arthritis, hearing loss, ringing in the ears, high blood pressure, heart palpitations, light headedness, trouble sleeping, shortness of breath, excessive appetite, frequent constipation, digestive problems, bloated feeling, heartburn, anxiety attacks, nervousness, and my balance was way off. You name it, I had it! I am 61 years old. This went on for thirty years. Sometimes I really felt like giving up. I checked him out to see what he had to say about me. I went to see him at his office for an examinantion where he screened me for pain, muscle strength imbalance, blood sugar problems, allergies and evaluated my nutritional and digestive status. Dr. Z was hesitant to take me on as a patient. He told me that because I had these problems for so many years that I would have to make drastic life style changes and follow his recommendations absolutey...could I do that? Well, I decided right then that I could do anything I put my mind to. The diet - no carboydrates. Breakfast is hardest - I used to eat cereal with non-fat milk, dried apricots and banana every morning. Popcorn for snacks during the day. My initial symptom score on was 128, one week later, it was 10. My heartburn is gone, my pain is so much improved, I don't feel depressed, I have more energy, I have hope again. Dr.Z saved my life! I heartily and highly recommend coming to see Dr.Z!! PS - Within two weeks I decided to go off three of my medications - Oxycontin, Prevacid and Glucophage.. I would love to be off all of them, eventually. Your Brain - the Key to Your Human Expression Neuropsychiatric disorders are the #1 disorders among all human dysfunctions on our planet today. The question is: WHY? Alzheimer's disease is a progressive degenerative brain disorder that gradually destroys a person's memory and ability to learn, reason, make judgments, communicate and carry out daily activities. The most striking early symptom is loss of short term memory which usually manifests as minor forgetfulness that becomes steadily more pronounced with illness progression, with relative preservation of older memories. As Alzheimer's progresses, individuals may also experience changes in personality and behavior, such as anxiety, suspiciousness or agitation, as well as delusions or hallucinations.
Alzheimer's and Diabetes/Blood Sugar Imbalance There are now more than 5 million people in the United States living with Alzheimer's disease. This number includes 4.9 million people over the age of 65 and between 200,000 and 500,000 people under age 65 with early-onset Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. Nearly one-third of American adults - perhaps as many as 73 million people - have diabetes or higher than normal blood sugar levels, according to a study from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases that was published in the June 2006 issue of Diabetes Care. beginning of quote from http://www.alz.org/icad/newsreleases/071606_noon_diabtesandad.asp " . Weili Xu, M.D., and colleagues from the Karolinska Institutet and the Stockholm Gerontology Research Center, Sweden, sought to examine the effects of borderline diabetes on the development of dementia and Alzheimer's. beginning of quote The researchers studied 22,852 patients with type 2 diabetes for eight years to determine if elevated glycosylated hemoglobin, a marker of blood sugar control, correlated with increased risk of dementia. Participants were members of the Kaiser Permanente of Northern California Diabetes Registry (66 percent Caucasian, 10 percent African American, 11 percent Asian, 10 percent Latino, 3 percent Native-American or other) age 50 and older. Those with very poor blood sugar control were more likely to develop dementia. Compared to those with normal glycosylated hemoglobin levels (< 7), those with levels greater than 12 were 22 percent more likely to develop dementia, while those with levels greater than 15 were 78 percent more likely to get dementia. "Effective blood sugar control may lower risk of another diabetes associated complication - dementia," said Whitmer. end of quote

II. Dr. Z's Blood Sugar/Hypoglycemia Support Hypoglycemia means low blood sugar. The body tries at all times to maintain a nearly constant blood sugar level. This is especially important for the brain and the nervous system. Each cell of the nervous system/brain requires stimulation, oxygen and food to make energy so it can function optimally. The only fuel the brain can use is glucose. The consumption of high carbohydrate foods leads to blood sugar swings with episodes of hypoglycemia. If the blood sugar level is depressed below normal, or if blood sugar levels drop too rapidly, the brain is unable to function appropriately. This can lead to a wide variety of physical and seemingly psychological symptoms associated with abnormal nervous system function and premature brain aging. In response to low blood sugar the adrenal glands release adrenal hormones into the blood stream. This can produce anxiety, trembling, panic attacks and other seemingly "psychological" symptoms. In my clinical practice I find the following nutritional supplements to be very useful to support optimal brain function through normalizing blood sugar levels. You can purchase all items at a 10% discount with Dr. Z's Blood Sugar/Hypoglycemia Support.
