   Canine Geriatric Basics
for dogs

Canine Geriatric Basic Nutrients are full spectrum multi-vitamin-mineral supplements designed for the older dog.

Older dogs often have increased needs for nutritional supplementation. As aging progresses in dogs, there is a greater number of degenerating tissues - to support healthy tissues and tissue repair, this formula has higher levels of antioxidants, vitamins, and zinc.

Many geriatric dogs will have a variety of problems specific to the individual. Canine Geriatric Basic Nutrients were designed to be used alone, or in conjunction with various other nutritional products that you find in the list provided under digestive, heart, liver, eye function support for dogs. Many of those supplement are similar or indentical to those used to enhance human optimal physiological function.

The aging process adversely affects the brain of dogs as well. There is decreased production of neurotransmitters, decreased synaptic density, and degeneration of neuronal membrane integrity.

Phosphatidylserine is the most studied substance that has proven over and over again to enhance brain function and reduce and even reverse the effects of aging in dogs and in humans. Phosphatidylserine appears to improve the amount and function of the neurotransmitters

  • acetylcholine
  • norepinephrine
  • serotonin
  • dopamine

Acetyl Carnitine is related to acetylcholine and seems to be able to function similarly to acetylcholine. In humans it has proven useful for many age-related memory defects.

Bilberry has been added for its beneficial effects on vision and eye function of dogs.
